This will be developed further as a priority under HSC's new 'LAs and HSE Working Together' strategic programme.
This section contains details of organisations concerned with health and safety and related areas and is intended
to be a basic reference source of on-line advice and information.

- LAU/HELA Closed Site
The LAU/HELA Closed site contains the current years LA Prosecution Pack, HSE Enforcement Handbook for Scotland
and the list of registered LAPS partners. This site is password protected and is for the use of authorised
personnel only.
- HELA Training Co-ordination
The HELA Training Co-Ord website was constructed to provide a central focus for the co-ordination of health
and safety training activities. It has been expanded to enable collection and collation of LAs topic-based
inspection data. This is a password-protected site that is also available only to authorised serving LA enforcement
officers.
- COSHH Essentials
Contains information on issues and guidance related to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health.

This site provides a wealth of information for consumers and businesses, schools, advice and information centres,
community organisations, local councils, business support agencies and trade associations. The site
for comsumer protection information in the UK.
- FSA
Link to the Food Standards Agency homepage. The FSA is an independent food safety watchdog set up by an Act
of Parliament in 2000 to protect the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food.
- Companies House
Containing a complete register of companies in the UK including comprehensive statistics and annual reports.
- Audit Commission
The Audit Commission is an independent body responsible for ensuring that public money is used economically,
efficiently and effectively. Includes information on auditing of LAs.

access to information they need on the web sites of central government departments, agencies and public bodies.

- IOSH
IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) is Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals,
represents 27,000 members in over 50 countries. An independent, not-for-profit organisation, the Institute
regulates and steers the health and safety profession, maintaining standards and providing impartial, authoritative
guidance on health and safety issues.
