Competent health and safety advice

The law says you must appoint someone competent to help you meet your health and safety duties.
You could appoint (one or a combination of):

  • yourself;
  • one or more of your workers;
  • someone from outside your business.

If you are looking for competent advice to help you with health and safety, use our quick checklist Getting specialist help with health and safety INDG420 to help you ask the right questions.
