The latest information for the East shows a downward trend in workplace injuries but no clear trend in rates of work-related ill health.
- Ill Health: 111 000 people suffered from work-related illness, a rate of 3 600 per 100 000 people working in the past 12 months (LFS).
- Injuries: There were 10 399 reported injuries to employees, a 6.4% decrease from the previous year (RIDDOR).
- Injury rates: Total rate of reported injury fell to 469.4 per 100 000 employees, compared with a five year average of 519.1 (RIDDOR).
- Working days lost: 2.0 million working days were lost due to workplace injury and ill health, 0.9 days per worker (LFS).
- Enforcement: HSE inspectors issued 983 notices and prosecuted 65 cases, 62 of which led to a conviction.
