Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) in Great Britain
Hand Arm Vibration is largely made up of two conditions, Vibration White Finger and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Both conditions have been declining over the past decade.
- The number of new cases of Vibration White Finger assessed for disablement benefit in 2010/11 was 1 045. (IIDB)
- The number of new claims has dropped by 1 380 from 2 425 in 2001/02.
- Since 2007, all new claims have been made by males
- The number of new cases of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome assessed for disablement benefit in 2010/11 was 435.
- The number of new claims of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome has dropped by 360 from 795 claims in 2001/02.
