Information for the submission of a research proposal to the HSE REC is provided. The application form (ETH C1) must be completed taking into account the accompanying guidance.
Submission should be built into the study timetable at the planning stage and this should be discussed with the Medical Secretary of the Committee at an early stage. Completed paperwork, including the application form, full study scientific protocol, copies of all questionnaires, consent form and subject information sheets should be submitted at least three weeks prior to the meeting of the Committee.
Meetings are held quarterly but where there is exceptional circumstance proposals may be considered by members through correspondence.
Research proposers will not normally be invited to present their study to the Committee in person unless the study has been deferred from a previous consideration.
The outcome from discussion and the final Committee decision will be communicated within 10 working days of the Committee meeting.
