Principal functions and activities: The Health and Safety Executive is the government body responsible for occupational health and safety regulation in Great Britain.

Principal functions and activities: Set up in 1975 as the Research and Laboratory Services Division of the Health and Safety Executive, renamed as the Health and Safety Laboratory and acquired agency status in 1995.

Heating and Ventilation Joint Safety Committee

Status: A joint committee between employers (Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association) and union (MSF Craft Sector)

Principal functions and activities: The Joint Safety Committee (JSC) was inaugurated in 1967. Its role is to act as a focal point for all issues relating to health and safety in the heating and ventilating, air-conditioning and refrigeration engineering sectors.
