The maintenance of asset integrity and control of the significant risk to asset integrity presented by ageing processes is a key priority for HSE (see OSD Business Plan). This page has been introduced to provide information on Ageing and Life Extension issues relevant to offshore installations and the work of OSD in this area. It will be updated regularly to include information and links to sources of information on, for example:
Following the launch of KP4 on 28 July in Aberdeen, OSD has now embarked on its programme of inspections. Eight duty holders are included in year 1 and, so far, kick-off meetings have been held with Apache, BP, ConocoPhillips and Total.
The first onshore duty holder inspection has now been completed, and the follow-up offshore inspection is scheduled for January 2011.
OSD is actively involved in a wide range of offshore industry stakeholder engagement activities relating to ageing and life extension.
OSD collaborates closely with Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority, on a wide range of offshore matters including PSA’s programme of work on ageing and life extension of offshore installations.
Information on HSE’s research initiatives on ageing has been published on the International Committee on Regulatory Authority Research and Development (ICRARD) website
