ONR is committed to providing up to date, open and transparent content relating to its current internal instructions and guidance used to carry out its core operational work of inspecting, investigating, permissioning and enforcing.
Keeping ONR's internal instructions and guidance under regular review is a big task. Not all the material presented here is completely up to date but it is all useful. ONR staff understand the context in which they are working and are able to interpret appropriately current material that would benefit from some revision.
The material presented here is essentially the same as it is made available to ONR staff, but with some additional explanation for an external audience.

These documents have been transferred verbatim from HSEs FOI webpages. The HSE Classification Scheme and Retention Schedule outlines the objectives and criteria for organising and managing information. It also explains the policy framework and process for appraising records generally.
