Regulators issue interim DAC and interim SoDA as GDA reaches key milestone

14 December 2011

Generic designs for two nuclear reactors proposed for construction in the UK have been granted interim design acceptance by the Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Environment Agency. The regulators have also published various reports detailing the assessments and explaining their decisions.

These webpages set out the work the Office for Nuclear Regulation and Environment Agency are currently doing to make sure that any new nuclear power stations built in the UK meet high standards of safety, security, environmental protection and waste management.

We are currently assessing two nuclear power station designs that could be built in the UK.

As Nuclear Regulators our role is to secure the protection of people and society from the hazards of the nuclear industry. We do this throughout the lifetime of a nuclear power station, from design stage through to decommissioning, when the power station is taken permanently out of service.
