The 2008/9 report gives headline figures for LA prosecutions and enforcement and also provides supplementary tables data for more than one year. The Three year data sheet provides a list of offender and details of the individual charges laid against duty holders that resulted in a conviction, together with the penalties imposed by the Courts.
Prior to 2008/9 the reports provide only details of successful prosecutions for that year in local authority enforced sectors on health and safety offences.
For further information on specific cases, please contact the prosecuting local authority directly.
LAU are now collating details of prosecutions for this current year heard between 1 April 2009 and 31 March 2010 which may now be submitted by LAs to HSE via HELex.
Successful prosecutions of health and safety offences, including details of the individual charges laid against duty holders and the penalties imposed by the Courts, is published annually on this website.
Headline figures of Local Authority enforcement activity are also included in HSE's Annual Health and Safety Statistics publication
In addition, HSE statisticians use the data (along with other sources) to calculate prosecution rates, average fines etc as well as to identify trends. This information is then used to inform strategic decisions.
