Inspection Campaign 2010/2011
In 2010/2011, HSE inspected NHS Trusts in England, Scotland and Wales to see how they were managing the risk of sharps injuries. The campaign aimed to:
- Assess compliance with the Health and Safety at Work (HWSA) etc. Act 1974 and Management of Health and Safety At Work Regulations 1999, through testing health and safety management systems, at both corporate and operational levels, on a sample basis.
- Assess compliance with COSHH Regs by inspecting departmental arrangements.
- Engage with worker representatives.
- Provide feedback to the organisation, identifying areas of concern and enforcing where appropriate.
- Acquire information to develop further guidance, best practice, and case studies.
Further information on the findings of this inspection campaign will be available towards the end of 2011.
