Ignition of explosive atmospheres

Accidents can happen when unsuitable equipment is used in potentially explosive atmospheres or where suitable equipment has not been correctly maintained. The accidents described here are typical.

No risk assessment

Two workers were burnt when flammable solvent fumes were ignited in a confined space.

No training or instruction

An employee received burns when a drum caught fire whilst he was cleaning an electric stirrer.
