5 year cycle for approval to carry out First - Aid at work training
1 Post approval monitoring visits to approved training provider organisations/persons are undertaken to ensure training standards that form part of the terms of the approval are being maintained.
2 The table below provides a guide to how many initial monitoring visits will be carried out during the five year duration of an approval certificate.
3 The table is intended to aid decisions on the number of visits required for organisations according to the number of training sites operated or routinely used by the organisation. The table when used in conjunction with the fees shown in paragraph 8(iii) should allow training organisations to roughly anticipate the costs of initial post approval monitoring visits.
A training organisation operating a small number of sites (up to five) will normally receive just one initial post approval monitoring visit in the five year duration of an approval certificate.
A large organisation operating thirty sites will normally receive six initial post approval monitoring visits in the five year duration of an approval certificate.
4 The table is not intended to deal with purely itinerant training organisations who train at, for example, clients premises or at transient sites. Each of these organisations will receive at least one initial post approval monitoring visit and additional information will be collected to enable HSE to judge the need for further visits.
5 In determining when further visits are appropriate, HSE will take into account the level of risk, the number of sites and the level of compliance with the conditions of the approval.
6 For those organisations of whatever type or size where additional visits are considered necessary because a shortfall in training provision has been identified, additional fees will be payable. Details are provided in paragraph 8(iii).
