Carriage of dangerous goods
Regulation 9 of the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2007 permits either the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or the Secretary of State for Transport to authorise carriage of dangerous goods contrary to the prohibitions or requirements of the regulations.
The power does not apply in relation to transportable pressure equipment.
HSE has this power in relation to Class 1 goods (explosives) and the Secretary of State for Transport for other classes of dangerous goods.
Authorisations granted under the 2004 regulations continue to apply.
