ONR are seeking to recruit a Chief Operating Officer for their Headquarters in Bootle, Merseyside.
As Chief Operating Officer of ONR you will be:
- Deputy Executive Head of ONR with responsibility for overseeing the
delivery of the ONR’s regulatory programme. This role is undertaken
within the technical regulatory framework determined by the Executive
Head who combines Chief Executive responsibilities with the regulatory
responsibilities of the Chief Nuclear Inspector. The Chief Operating Officer
(COO) is responsible for ensuring that the regulatory programme is
effective and efficient, and delivers the right regime to secure the
protection of people and society from the activities of the nuclear industry.
- Leader of the delivery of the nuclear regulatory function that has significant
implications for major Government polices, impacts on the economic
health of the UK and on international relations covering areas such as the
climate change agenda, nuclear new build, continued operation of existing
nuclear power stations, safety and security of major nuclear legacy
facilities, maintenance of the UK’s strategic nuclear defence and nuclear
submarine capabilities; maintenance of the UK’s position as a world leader
in nuclear capabilities.
- Executive Member of the ONR Board with particular responsibility for
ensuring that the Board’s strategy and overall policies are carried out.
- Senior member of the ONR's Executive Management Team working
corporately to ensure the development and effective working of the ONR
as an organisation and public sector body.
- Senior representative/ambassador for the ONR, particularly in
relationships with senior nuclear industry and other stakeholders, and to
develop effective working relationships while ensuring robust regulatory
programmes of work.
- Leader of the transformational development of the ONR to meet Ministers'
imperatives of a modern, world–class regulator, fit for the safety and
security challenges of the nuclear sector ahead, and responsive to the
expectations of stakeholders, notably the nuclear industry.
- Leader of the ONR’s transition programme which is enabling the
organisation to move seamlessly into being as a Statutory Corporation,
maximising the benefits that this is expected to confer to the organisation
and its stakeholders.
