Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) guidance document “Protection against blood-borne infections in the workplace: HIV and hepatitis” was last published in 1996. An updated, draft version of the guidance is now available for consultation and we would value your comments.
The updated guidance is intended to cover workplace situations where exposure to blood-borne viruses (BBV) is possible. Aspects of virology, legal issues, controls and recommended actions post-exposure, are presented. A key aim of the guidance is to provide links to existing, specialist guidance where it exists, rather than reproducing information unnecessarily. The guidance has been split into several sections with appendices, as we appreciate that not everyone will wish to read all sections, but please comment on any areas you can.
We would be grateful for any feedback you/your organisation may have on this revised guidance. To assist you, we have provided a feedback form, which provides space for general or specific comments, and highlights some key questions we have. We are also considering a “Questions and Answers” section, and would like to know (i) do you feel Q&A would benefit the guidance, and (ii) if so, do you have any questions you wish to see included.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this consultation process.
