About the HSE
Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for the regulation of risks to health and safety arising from work activity in Britain.
Our mission is to protect people's health and safety by ensuring risks in the changing workplace are properly controlled in firms and business across Britain. This area of the website focuses especially on programmes of health and safety in small and medium-sized businesses.
The HSE, HSC and the Local Authorities work together to develop new ways to establish and maintain an effective health and safety culture. We want to make sure that, in a changing economy, all employers take their responsibilities seriously, with the workforce is fully involved and that risks are properly managed.
