| 6 | LAs and SMEs: Work to Encourage a ‘Joined Up’ Approach Tony Hetherington, head of HSE’s Local Authorities Unit, will present an introduction to how HSE and LAs are working together to deliver the health and safety strategy. This will include an overview of recent initiatives and members will be invited to comment on small business experiences of LA approaches to health and safety. Members will be provided with an overview of HSE’s work to communicate the risks associated with buried LPG pipework to SMEs. Julian Dellic will explain the background to this project, which is related to the fatal ICL Plastics explosion in 2004. The team would like to receive member suggestions as to the appropriate tone and content of planned guidance, together with advice as to how best to raise awareness of associated issues among affected SMEs.
