Patrick McDonald
After taking a degree in chemistry Patrick McDonald worked as a forensic scientist at the Laboratory of the Government Chemist, specialising in drugs of abuse.
From 1987 he worked for the Department of Trade and Industry in a number of posts relating to science, technology and economic development.
Patrick was appointed as Chief Scientist of the Health and Safety Executive in September 2006. He is a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and of the Royal Society of Arts, Commerce and Manufacture.
