AALS Inspector Guidance Note - IGN 5.02 (was C/Int 02)

  • Version No & date: 1: 19/01/2010
  • Review date: 01/2013

Issue: Technical advisors generally need to meet general criteria to act as such.

Technical Advisors will generally have to satisfy each of the following 4 criteria.  They must:

  1. Have a proven level of technical competence in the activity, usually as set out in L77, “Guidance from the Licensing Authority on the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 2004”;
  2. Have a good knowledge of the venues to be used;
  3. Have access to, or knowledge of, the instructors concerned;
  4. Have sufficient experience in the activity and maturity to make suitably sound judgments.

Governing Bodies have generally drawn up the expectations for 1 above.  The Licensing Authority will expect the provider to have made suitable arrangements to ensure 2, 3 and 4.
