General Criteria for Technical Advisors

Issue: Technical advisors generally need to meet general criteria to act as such.
Technical Advisors will generally have to satisfy each of the following 4 criteria. They must:
- Have a proven level of technical competence in the activity, usually as set out in L77, “Guidance from the Licensing Authority on the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 2004”;
- Have a good knowledge of the venues to be used;
- Have access to, or knowledge of, the instructors concerned;
- Have sufficient experience in the activity and maturity to make suitably sound judgments.
Governing Bodies have generally drawn up the expectations for 1 above. The Licensing Authority will expect the provider to have made suitable arrangements to ensure 2, 3 and 4.
